December 17, 2012. I had an
appointment to my employer regarding our visa papers and other documents, so I
went to the office in Malate, Manila in the afternoon. After all the things
have settled, I contact my parekoy Elaine to have some snack and join her in
her field work. While waiting to her bosses we decided to have our snack at “TOAST
BOX” located at ground floor Padre Paura Wing, Robinsons Malate, Manila. It was
a cozy restaurant; we enjoy the ambience that’s so inviting and pleasing to the
eyes. The decors and the whole place is so simple and homie, the walls are
painted in plain white, the decors are window frames that attached to the walls
are also painted in white. The lightning are in lamp post type hanging in the
ceiling, the table setting is simply white pair with white finished chairs.
Their menu is trouble-free yet you may have that little curiosity towards the
foods that they serve. The restaurant was originated at Singapore so expect the
Asian invasion in their delicacies, the restaurant serves more on the breakfast
type of menu, and well known in serving a cup of “Nanyang Coffee” (the
traditional coffee in Singapore) go along with toasted bread. As we move on, we
had their specialties or signature dishes, mine is “Kaya Toast” it’s a toast
bread fill with coconut jam and butter, and I paired it with tall ice tea in
with brown sugar. While elaine’s have her “Pork Floss Thick Toast” a toasted
bread with shredded pork meat on the top- a taste of saltiness and sweetness of
the bread, she paired it with a cup of black coffee. Every breakfast meals
comes with two pieces boiled eggs, it was so odd but I think they have it as
part of the meal to complete the daily dose of energy (carbohydrates and
protein) into to your breakfast meal to boost of your body. I think I will go
back there to try some of their “Laksa”, “Chicken Curry” and “Ice Cream Thick
Toast”. You should try it to to enjoy a different twist in Asian cuisine.
